Don't worry, friends! I'm not trading addresses--just grade levels. I received my teacher schedule early this morning and it looks like I will be teaching 6th grade this year.
True Story: I am super-grateful to have a job during the 2010 Teacher Massacre. I think 6th grade is great. I do. I swear. 11-year-olds just entering puberty. Love it. Can't wait. I am eager to return to work in the fall. Here comes the BUT...
BUT, it would be nice to to have been asked. Just something simple. No big deal. Something along the lines of "Hey Miss Mac, we think you would be great in the 6th grade, so how about it?" I mean, can a girl get a little heads up?
So for me this means a whole new schedule and curriculum which is no different from any other September.
True Story Number 2: I have taught EVERY grade level and content area in the last 5 years-including Spanish. It has NOT been easy to get a permanent spot these last few years. Sure, I could have stayed at isle12, but I'm fairly certain I would have never have survived.
Since I am a Basic Skills Teacher, I will be pushing into 3 different classrooms with 3 new teachers who may or may not like team-teaching. (For all of you non-teachers out there, "push-in" is just an educational term used to describe two teachers in one classroom. I will not be pushing, nor harming any other human beings--I hope)
thats really sucky they didnt ask you...
