In the Bedroom

Get your minds out of the gutter! This PG-rated post simply gives all the juicy deets on the ONE and ONLY finished room in my house. Yup, that's right. The master bedroom is finally finished and ready for its close-up. I couldn't be more excited to reveal the dramatic before and after shots.

Here is the room BEFORE

Nikki is not camera shy.

As you can see, the walls are stark-naked, but the husband and I did splurge on that fab furniture you see in the pics--right after our wedding. So, thank you to those of you who attended the DP wedding. Your generous gifts were well-spent. Take comfort in knowing we didn't blow your money on designer shoes and video games.

The bedroom is by far, my most favorite room to decorate. It is the only room in the house that is strictly about YOU. There are no rules. Anything goes.

I came across this little slice of heaven in a Better Homes & Gardens Magazine.

So without further ado, here are the gorgeous AFTER photos. Apologies, in advance for the poor photo quality.

The best part about this room is that I already had all of the accessories left over from my cranberry-pink single-gal room. While a bright pink room may not be suitable for a married couple, the soft pink pillows and blanket give it just the feminine touch I needed next to those bold blue walls. The yellow circle mirror was also hiding in my closet and previously hung above a small dining area. Now it's a strong focal point between two large windows and I just love how it compliments the small ovals in my designer sheer curtains-and by designer I mean right off target.com. I wanted the look of the dramatic lace over the bed as seen in my inspiration picture but decided to create the look with curtains instead.

Matching Silver Circle Lamps on each mirrored side table! Can you stand it?

Yes, that's right, it's 3:08PM and I am snapping some pictures for my blog. Ah, the life of a teacher.

My favorite detail is the individual monogrammed letters above our bed. While DP swears people will think it stands for Dungeons and Dragons, I still have faith that those of us who don't indulge in video games at the age of twenty-five will understand its symbolism.

DP and I are in the habit of holding onto all of our ticket stubs from various date nights. These include mostly movie and baseball game tickets but I even have the mini-golf score card saved from our very first date. I'm looking for a better jar to store them in, but for now, they are being displayed in a small glass vase.

I found this great shell-like plate to hold my jewelry and eliminate a messy bureau top-Just $1.99 at ROSS.

So there you have it, friends--A finished room. Can you believe it? Oh and here's one more shot of my super-hot husband workin' it with that paint roller!

  1. Looks fantastic! Our bedroom is so neglected, chiefly because most of the time I spend in there is for sleeping, but I've had a reading nook in mind and I REALLY need to get on that and give the room some loving!
