Where Have You Been All My Life?

Well, since you asked, I have been juggling a new job, new content area, back to school night and bridesmaid double-duty. I haven't decorated, blogged or vacuumed in DAYS and I just feel terrible about myself as a homeowner and wife in general. Nikki rarely gets her walk anymore and poor DP hasn't had a napkin note in weeks!

I am really looking forward to settling into a nice routine in the month of October--Although, I could certainly get used to playing dress-up and having my hair and make-up done professionally every weekend!

Here's a pic of my favorite make-up artist, Lucie Nguyen over at http://www.luciebeauty.com giving my sister-in-law the royal treatment on her wedding day this past weekend.

I'm not sure if it was the work of Lucie, or the fact that she was marrying the love of her life, but our bride was positively glowing this past Friday.

Lucie also did my make-up for my wedding, last December.

Lucie is a true perfectionist in every sense of the word. She has traveled all over the world to study fashion and cosmetology and has even worked with meat-dress-wearing celebs!

While it is true the bride was glowing, I, on the other hand, was flaking, cracking and breaking out. When Lucie sat down with me this past weekend, she mentioned my skin looking a bit "stressed." Although I appreciate her choice of adjectives in this particular instance, the truth was my skin was uneven, seriously dry, and looking a tad weathered (yikes!)

It seems a change in season, a lack of sleep and a new routine (and maybe just one accidental trip to the tanning salon) was finally taking its toll on my already sensitive skin.

Lucie suggested I try the product Aquaphor as a face mask for thirty minutes. The day after the wedding, I scanned my local drugstore for this mystery product and was shocked to finally find it next to the diapers in the baby aisle.

Although it is more commonly used to prevent diaper rash, I quickly found out Aquaphor is actually meant to create a protective barrier that seals in moisture and is clinically proven to reduce healing time.

I was extremely hesitant to put this petroleum-jelly-looking goo on my face but decided to give it a shot. I left it on for a half-hour, as suggested, then rinsed it off with water, and moisturized right after.

I was SHOCKED to see a difference in my skin right away and just had to share this diaper-rash/face mask secret with all of you! Who would have thought?!

  3. I will definitely have to try this--I never would have thought to use it as a face mask! Aquaphor is basically a really thick Vaseline, I used it on my tattoo for the first couple of days after I got it, the tattoo artist recommended it to me. I also use it has chapstick, it's great for chapped lips!
