Last Tuesday I got all dolled-up for my unofficial first day back to work--my faux New Teacher Orientation. Since I was technically hired last March, and have been teaching for four years, there was really nothing "new" about it.
With all of the recent budget-cuts and teachers losing jobs, many of the "new teachers" at orientation had five or six years of teaching experience under their belts. Instead of trading nerves and panicked looks on our faces, we were able to share both lesson ideas and horror stories which really made the day fun. Naturally, I chose my very favorite Isle12 moments which included my car being spray-painted, laptop stolen and a few classic student quotes such as "You're butt is like a biscuit that needs to be buttered" to share with my colleagues. I don't mean to brag, but I'm fairly certain I had the most entertaining stories.
At the end of the week, I began cleaning and prepping for my sister-in-law's bachelorette party. I was incredibly excited to have the night begin at my place!

I had so much fun creating a bridal collage, with old & new pictures of bride + bridesmaids, her "love is sweet" bridal shower invite, and original "Will you be my Bridesmaid?" card she gave us last year. Since we were traveling into Philadelphia for the night, I created pink "to go" cups with each girl's name printed in gold paint-marker.

We bowled the night away at Lucky Strikes.

After bowling, we had a fabulous meal at The Melting Pot. If you've never been, I highly recommend it. It can get pretty pricey so the six of us enjoyed some yummy cheese and chocolate, and opted out of the entire five course meal. It was the perfect amount of food after filling up on snacks at Lucky Strikes.
I might just have to steal your pink cup to go idea! I am doing a night out this coming saturday and those cups are a great idea!! Did you buy or make her sash?
ReplyDeleteI bought her sash at ACMoore. The pink to-go cups are from my local dollar store. I would not recommend using the paint-pen because it does come off of the cups when they gets wet. They ended up being great because ALL of the places we went that night let us enter with our festive beverages! What a money-saver!
ReplyDeleteI love the melting pot !! So yummy !! The to go cups are a cute idea !!
