Wax on. Wax off.

I can hardly believe it's been one whole week since my last post. I know it's a shock, but I've actually been super-busy with various projects. Yes, that's right. Contrary to what you may hear, most teachers do not sit on the beach all summer sipping frozen drinks. (Although I'm not going to lie to you, friends--I have spent a day or two or six indulging in ALL the benefits of summer vacay.)

A N Y W A Y, since I spend most of my days playing the doting housewife, performing bridesmaidal duties, and of course, finding new ways to decorate my house I sometimes have trouble finding the time and energy to cram in a work-out. You would think this would not be a problem since I have a gym literally within walking distance of my house. Sadly, walking that treadmill while watching 16 and Pregnant isn't doing it for me anymore.

In the spirit of trying new things, (we all remember the pole-dancing incident) new friend Steph and I took a chance and decided one day, on a whim, to try a kickboxing class at LA BOXING. I wasn't sure what to expect but I'm sure you can recall the late 90's Tae-Bo craze. C'mon! You remember. Billy Blanks? You MUST remember my man Billy!

I totally thought kickboxing was the same thing as Tae-Bo. Not true. Here's what I found out:

Tae Bo is a workout

Kickboxing is a sport.

Tae Bo will get you in shape

Kickboxing will teach you how to fight.

Great. I mean these are some mean streets I live on. But can't a girl get a workout in while she's kicking ass? The answer is YES. After an hour class, I felt like I had had one of the best workouts of my life and decided to become a member for the remainder of the summer. The class was so fun and the time went by fast. And the BEST part? Teachers get a discount. They even offered me a free pair of gloves for signing up. I even got to choose the color.

Of course, I chose pink. Was there ever a doubt?
