27 Dresses (Cont'd)

As mentioned in previous posts, I have been very privileged this past year, to be a bridesmaid in several wedding parties (4 to be exact, plus my own) Last summer I made my bridesmaid debut in my very best friend's wedding at The Mansion in Vorhees, New Jersey. That's me, next to the beautiful bride.

Deciding which besties you'll have stand beside you on your day can be difficult. Like, do I ask my brother's girlfriend? They've been dating for 5 seconds. How about my second-cousin Sally who I barely know but Aunt Sue will never speak to me again if I don't include her? You ALL know what I'm talking about. But once you make the necessary cuts, asking your girls can be a very special experience. After all, once you've got your entourage, you're officially a bride and there's no greater feeling.

When asking my maids, I wrote special messages in these cards below.

My sister-in-law sent these adorable poems to each maid in the mail.

If you have ever been a bridesmaid, you understand both the excitement and anxiety it can bring. Of course any gal would jump at the chance to be a part of something so special, but let's face it-- walking down that long aisle, praying you don't eat it in front hundreds of people, spending oodles of money on things like dresses, tulle and penis straws, and dealing with bridezillas can get pretty intense.

Keeping all of this in mind, I tried to be as easy on my maids as possible when it came time for my own wedding. We spent a lovely afternoon shopping for a dress that made everyone comfortable, and I let them choose their own pair of black heels with only one rule: Make sure you can wear them again! These girls looked pretty amazing, if I do say so myself.

Sometimes you luck out and get a bride with great taste. Lucky for me, all of my 27 dresses are totally wearable. Here is one of my favorites. It's a Jenny Yoo and I'm dying to wear it again. The best part about this dress was that it had pockets.

My wedding party entrance always includes the running man. This particular groomsman was not-so-easily convinced to take part in my tradition, but I worked some magic and got him to comply. Try not to steal my moves.

Being a part of someone's wedding is an amazing experience-no doubt. I love planning the bridal shower and bachelorette party and all of the details that go into making the time before a bride's wedding fun and stress-free. I will get to play bridesmaid to two more incredible girls this September and I can't wait!

  1. absolutely love this post, mostly because I can totally relate. I am IN LOVE with the dresses your bridesmaids wore and your fav bridesmaid dress is incredible, and totally wearable again! two out of the six dresses I have worn (so far) were homemade and adorable, but really only one time wearers... I am sad to say I chucked one immediately but three I have held onto and worn again :)

  2. You're lucky to have worn some pretty dresses! I've never been a bridesmaid, but I'm assuming if/when I am, the dress will later sit in my closet ha
