Picky Pumpkins

You've heard of picky eaters? Well, I'm very picky about my pumpkins. They have to be smooth, round, paint-able and have just the right amount of stem. For those of you who missed it, last year's prized pumpkins reflected my upcoming nuptials.

This year I decided I wanted white pumpkins for a more clean, sophisticated look. Yes, pumpkins can be sophisticated. After all, I am a classy, married lady now. White pumpkins are a must.

What I didn't realize was that white pumpkins are extremely hard to come by. You won't find them at your local supermarket, Home Depot or Lowes. I called around to local produce and farmers' markets but no luck.

As a last resort, I decided to call Duffields Farm, a small, family owned produce market and bakery where DP and I occasionally stop to buy some ridiculously-delicious apple cider doughnuts.

After finding out they indeed had white pumpkins, I quickly hopped in my car, wearing an around-the-house-no-one-should-ever-see-me-outfit. Hey, I had to get there before some other crazy white-pumpkin-hunter got to them! No time for a beauty routine. This was life or death. I would just arrive incognito, grab those beautiful pumpkins, and get the heck out of there, right?

WRONG! This is a picture of the Duffield's Farm parking lot earlier today. How wonderful-- A fall fair with hay rides, face painting and let's not forget Kari, the professional stilt-walker. Are you catching my sarcasm? I hope so. This always happens to me. Reason number 4,879 why a girl should always look her best.

So after walking though a corn maze, dodging apple-bobbing (and various students), I finally ended up here:

Cue heavenly music.

I wanted to buy all of them but I controlled myself by buying as many as I could carry, and then made sure they made it back to my house safely.

I crack myself up.

10 Points if you can find Nikki in that last shot.

How do they look?
