Have you seen the latest Breast-Cancer awareness bracelet? They are a little hard to miss, especially on the wrist of a twelve-year old boy. Not only are they neon in color but they also proudly display the saying "I <3 BOOBIES."
Of course I support all efforts to raise breast cancer awareness but I think I may have drawn the line at "Save the Ta-Tas" I very much doubt my 7th graders now have an understanding and appreciation for this life-threatening illness and those who have survived it. In fact, I know they don't because I overhead this scintillating conversation earlier today:
"Your bracelet says Boobies. That's awesome."
"Yeah I got it 'cause of my grandmother."
"Dude, that's gross."
"No, she only has one boob. She had booby cancer."
"Grandmoms don't have boobs. How can they get cancer?"
